What have you done to rule out hardware issues? This seems to be a problem with the OS software drivers?

By the way, if you open My Computer, did you see a separate drive e. Similar Threads - E Driver Card. I inserted SD Card and nothing shows up.

What other OS's have you booted the machine with? If the card works OK in another computer then there's no need to think about reformatting.
